Featuring a variety of independent shops and excellent places to eat and drink, Brecon is also home to attractions including the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh, Theatr Brycheiniog, the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, the 1930s-style Brecon Cinema and the magnificent 11th-century cathedral.

Keen walkers and cyclists can head into the national park, where there are plenty of activities including canoeing, pony trekking and climbing. Local landmarks and attractions include Llangorse Lake (6 miles), Talgarth Mill (9.5 miles), Pen y Fan (9 miles), Tretower Castle and the Storey Arms Outdoor Education Centre (both 11 miles).
