History buffs will love Cardiff (18 miles) for its St Fagans National Museum of History and Victorian shopping arcades, followed by seafood at Cardiff Bay. Further afield, Brecon Beacons National Park (20 miles) offers the Taff Trail and a stunning mountain railway.

Use the adjacent bench seating and table to dine together. Head through to the lounge, where comfortable seating and a Smart TV offer evenings of relaxation while you gaze out over lovely views of the garden from the patio doors.

When night falls, drift off in the rustic-style king-size bedroom, which features a solid-wood bedframe, skylight and storage for clothing. There is also a sofa bed that can sleep two in the living room if you would like extra visitors to stay, this can be arranged with the owner at an additional charge.

Completing the interior is the generous wet room with a stylish open shower and WC. After days of hiking and mountain biking, you can hire the wood-burning hot tub, available on a first-come, first-served basis, to soothe tired muscles.

Rhondda Heritage Park - CF37 2NP

Rhondda Heritage Park is located at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery and is a popular attraction with a range of facilities including a visitor centre, an art gallery, a gift shop, and a lovely period re-constructed Village Street.  Fully guided tours are available and include multimedia presentations as well as a unique trip underground where visitors will experience the life of a coal miner. The site also boasts a children's play area and an underground experience zone.
Cantref Adventure Farm - LD3 8LR

Cantref Adventure Farm offers hours of indoor and outdoor fun for the whole family. Inside there is a huge soft play area with a separate area for toddlers as well as ball pools, climbing frames, slides and chutes. The Cannon balls are a big hit with children of all ages. New for 2010 is the Badgers quest interactive maze. Outside there is a play area, large boating lake with paddle boats, nature trails with clues and quizzes and an agility course. At only £29.00 for a family of 4 the park offers outstanding value for money.

The very unique Seaquarium in Western Super Mare is a fantastic site based on a beach surrounded by 3 miles of sand offering an educational and fun experience for the whole family. The site is packed with marine life from all over the world and has an amazing Underwater tunnel where visitors can view Sharks and Sting Rays There are also several open top displays  allowing closer inspection of the elegant Rays as well as other creatures. Special events take place throughout the year in high season including talks and crafting sessions.

Come rain or shine this place is perfect for families and children can really let of steam while adults have some time to relax. The site has several large and safe areas for fun and games, a stunning Adventure Castle with slides and ball pools and a range of small fairground rides. There are also educational shows to see including Milking Show and the twice daily Bottle Feeding Show.
Brean Leisure Park - TA8 2QY

Brean Leisure Park in Somerset is the place to head for family fun. The site has over 130 rides and attractions with something for all ages and abilities. Adults and children alike will love the more traditional fairground rides which include waltzes, roller coasters and of course dodgems! Older kids and teenagers on the hunt for white knuckle attractions can try out the terrifying 'XTreme' ride - 130ft of exciting twists turns and drops. For younger children the Canoe River is one of the most popular rides and the whole family can team up to enjoy the Laser Quest. Other facilities at the park include a Snack Bar serving tasty food to go, a Restaurant for a relaxing sit down dinner and an Amusement Arcade with slot machines and video games.
Lama Trekking at Old king Street Farm - NP16 6AA

Lamas are gentle, affectionate and unique animals and Lama Trekking is fast becoming a popular family attraction. At Old king Street Farm you can spend the day with the charming creatures and enjoy feeding them, grooming them and having a stroll through the woodland. Lamas are not ridden but they can carry all the picnic essentials including tables and chairs! Lama Treks around the stunning Black Mountains are also available. 
Mendip Outdoor Pursuits - BS40 7UF

Puzzlewood - GL16 8QB

Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle. A Hocus Pokus Halloween event takes place from the 24th to the 31st of October.
Bristol Aquarium - BS1 5TT

The Blue Reef Aquarium and IMAX 3D Cinema is located in Bristol and makes a great fun family day out.  The newest attraction in the region it's an experience not to be missed.  More than 7000 animals are resident in naturally themed habitats and you can enjoy wandering around looking at the 40 displays. Highlights include the giant octopus and the cute seahorses. The IMAX 3D cinema system is fantastic - you will feel like you are swimming along with the animals.
