There is also a foldable dining table with chairs plus a grey sofa and armchair surrounding the open fire and TV. Continue into the elegant farmhouse-style kitchen to find a wooden breakfast bar with stalls and an ‘L’-shaped fitted unit with garden views from the sink.

Climb the cottage-style stairs to reach the first-floor family bathroom with a shower over the bath plus two bedrooms – a super-king-size zip-and-link and a single. Outside is a small patio and lawn overlooking the Twenty Trees landmark.

There is roadside parking available with this cottage. During your stay in Hayfield, explore the village to find the local pub and cafe before strolling along the River Sett or follow the Sett Valley Trail (both within 1 mile) to Birch Vale Reservoir (1 mile).

Head into the Peak District National Park to hike along the Pennine Way from Jacob’s Ladder (12.5 miles) to the Mermaid’s Pool (2 miles). History enthusiasts will love the dramatic ruins of Henry II’s 1196 Peveril Castle (11 miles).

Pop to the spa town of Buxton (10.5 miles) to browse the independent shops or dine out.
