From here, it is just a 1.5-mile walk across the verdant countryside to the 7-mile-long sandy beach at Druridge Bay, which is backed by grassy dunes. Venture the same distance to spend time at beautiful Druridge Bay Country Park too, with its scenic woodland and picturesque 100-acre Ladyburn Lake, where you can go sailing, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding and windsurfing.

Head into Amble to wander the independent shops, dine out and spend time at the Harbour Village, with its spectrum of outlets. From here, you can also book cruises out to Coquet Island, home to thousands of puffins and other seabirds.

Head into this striking abode at the lower-ground-floor level to find yourselves in a useful boot room and laundry space. Leave muddy boots, hang coats and find you also have a very handy family shower room with a rainfall shower where you can rinse off the sand after days on the beach.

Climb the carpeted stairs up to the first floor to emerge in your magnificent, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Very much the social hub of this holiday home, this stunning, vaulted space has a bank of windows with sliding glass doors, framing the incredible views.

Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.

Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
