Rose Lodge Reviews

Lovely Lodge. Clean apart from windows inside! Outside ok! Very comfortable and warm. Hot tub was great. Was disappointed there was no view. The 9 Lodges are very smart but the entrance at the rear of the hotel looks like a gypsy camp and the bins, including the dog poo bin, were overflowing so very off putting! Runswick Bay is really cute but a very steep hill to walk down and up again so just be aware. The Cleveland Way runs around the back and across the field of the Lodges and is a beautiful walk along the cliff edge. We walked into Staithes and caught the bus back and it was really enjoyable. The Hotel food was very good and so was the Hotel in the town. We enjoyed our week and so did our Pup. I would haven given 5 star but the bin problem was off putting sorry. Just empty them more regularly.
Lovely lodge, great location. Lots of hot water and heating for the cooler evenings. There was a shortage of crockery and glassware but a quick text and the response was immediate and we had new supplies. A dog friendly lodge all the lodges had dogs and the pub nearby dog friendly. Only gripe could do with a few cleaning materials for ongoing cleaning and bin bags Thanks

Very nice lodge. Clean. Well equipped. Hot tub was up to temperature on first night. Would recommend.

Lovely lodge in a peaceful setting. Very clean and well equipped with indoor and outdoor furniture, hot tub and good size for a family with two toilets both with showers. Nice walk down to Runswick Bay and back and a good location for a short drive to Whitby or Port Mulgrave for fossil hunting and exploring. Only minor thing is that the cottage is lacking some different sized glasses as those in the cottage were rather large for fruit juice or children to drink from. Would definately come back!

Rose Lodge is a great place to spend a weekend by the coast. The lodge itself is bright and comfortable and in a great location, just minutes from the Cleveland Way footpath. Runswick Bay itself is only a short walk down the hill though the path is quite steep! The hot tub was wellmaintained and, unlike those at some of the other lodges on site, wasnt overlooked. Some of the utensils etc could perhaps do with updating and several window locks need a bit of maintenance. We had to chase up a missing set of towels a couple of times, which delayed use of the hot tub as you need to shower beforehand, but they were delivered later that evening. We had excellent meals at the Runswick Bay Hotel just minutes away, and also the Cod & Lobster in Staithes.

Neat and tidy lodge on small site at top of Runswick Bay. The hot tub was a nice addition. Facilities include iron, ironing board, hoover, hairdryer. Little point. No clothes dryer. Why not. The glasses were of a large size. No small tumblers. 5 mins walk to The Runswick Bay hotel fabulous pub. Dog friendly and impressive menu so we ate there every night. Would I rebook. Probably.
Extremely relaxing with great facilities and staff lovely people and beautiful scenery
We had a lovely week here. The lodge was lovely, clean and homely. The maintenance man was so helpful and a minor issue we raised was dealt with immediately in a professional but friendly manor. Lovely quiet site and close enough to so many lovely places to visit for the day. I would definitely visit here again and highly recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a lovely break see you again soon
Beautiful property, beautiful location and a perfect few days away for me and my little family. I would highly recommend this place.

Beautiful location, I will be returning even if we decide to camp. Beds were very comfy. It's nice to go to a lodge and it's actually equipped with everything you need. The hotelbar on site has lovely food.
The property was lovely but the hot tub was really small and not for a family of four. However, it was secluded. The double bed was very comfortable and linen and towels were of good quality.
We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. We would definetely come back. A cover over the hot tub would be a great addition as when weather is bad can't go in the hot tub.
Lovely location spotlessly clean everything up to top standard cant say ... Lovely location spotlessly clean everything up to top standard cant say enough positive comments how much we loved our stay would definitely recommend
Beautiful lodge everything you need is in the lodge, beds are very comfortable. Hot tub was good but could do with a bigger one, the site was peaceful, the electricity went off one night on the whole site and after ringing, the bloke was there within 5 minutes
Lovely lodge in a great location, perfect
I found Rose Lodge to be perfect for a dog friendly vacation. Location was ideal with quiet, sedate walks on one hand whilst Whitby only being a few miles drive away. The lodge was very clean , well equipped and comfortable. Sleeping was a joy due to the plump pillows , clean and crisp bed linen. It was very evident that the team pays attention to the smallest of details . Could I suggest that a pair of scissors is placed in the kitchen drawer for opening food packaging .? I will certainly be booking the lodge again .

Thought I know the area well , obviously not. Runswick bay a stunning area, as for Rose Lodge, for us , perfect, Very clean and comfortable, quiet, with the hotel within walking distance where you can eat if you dont want to cook, also dog friendly. Will be going back!
Absolutely lovely. Well maintained, spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable accommodation. Ideal for exploring the stunning countryside, walking over the headlands, sea on one side and moorland on the other, the best of both worlds. A retreat to escape to. The Paddock enjoys everything on the doorstep, Highly recommend a visit to the Eden Camp, walking to Staithes and Whitby along the coast.

A lovely, clean and well equipped property on a well kept secluded site. Ideal for dog owners as each property if fenced in and close to the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent lodge well equipped, immaculately clean, good standard of decor and repair everything appeared to be new. Same for hot tub and outdoor area. Lovely little site quiet and well maintained. Perfect location for Runswick Bay and the Cleveland Way would definitely return.
Fabulous lodge in a lovely quiet paddock. Really enjoyed the hot tub which was clean and well maintained. Most if not all, lodges had a well behaved dog with them which was lovely to see. We will definitely book again.
Just had a lovely midweek break at Rose Lodge. There are just 10 lodges on a small site just behind the Runswick Bay Hotel. They are nicely positioned so all are fairly private. There is a caravan park behind a hedge but we had no issue with noise. Most people like us had their dogs with them so there was a bit of barking when dogs heard or saw each other but it's a lovely peaceful location very close to the Cleveland Way if you like walking. The lovely little bay is 510 mins walk down a very steep hill. It was too steep for us to walk up I think it would take 20 mins to walk up! but there is a pay and display car park close to the bottom free after 6.00pm. Rose Lodge was definitely the best lodge we have stayed in probably helps that everything was still very new at the time of our stay but the furnishings and layout were excellent. The 4 person hot tub was lovely and in a private position. The beds were really comfortable. A useful addition would be black out blinds in the east facing main bedroom as sunrise is likely to wake you up early. The only negative we had was with the wifi which was really poor. Very easy to log on but the connection was continually lost. During our stay the central heating wouldn't seem to work. We followed the instructions but the heating wouldn't come on. We only needed it on one morning when there was no sun but didn't raise the issue at the time of our stay as we didn't need heating apart from that one morning. Hot water wasn't a problem as it is a combi boiler so instant water when you need it. Very useful having an ensuite and a bathroom both with showers. Highly recommend Rose Lodge and we would definitely like to return in the future.
The Lodge was really comfortable with everything we needed and situated in a nice quiet place, perfectly situated for exploring the nearby coast.
