Pull on your walking boots and stroll 2 miles along the banks of the Ewenny River to spot local wildlife and see the remains of the 12th-century castle. Wildlife lovers will also enjoy a visit to Merthyr Mawr Nature Reserve (5 miles), which is known for its high dunes.
Plan an afternoon in charming Cowbridge (9.5 miles), where you can browse independent shops and stock up on Welsh produce. Climb the five external steps to the front door of this three-storey cottage and be greeted by a light-filled open-plan living space.
