Sunrise Dunwich Reviews

Emma Clarke
We really enjoyed our stay! The location by the beach is perfectand having a hot tub was such a bonus. The food in the restaurant was lovely, though we’d advise caution on the decking if it’s been raining-can get quite slippery.
Alex
Good place, but Wi-Fi needed
Emma
We loved the location, just a short walk to the beach steps, though it meant our dogs saw lots of passersby. The lodge was generally comfy, with nice beds in the small second bedroom, but could have been cleaner. The place was well stocked, including a dishwasher, which was handy. Opposite the main entrance, there's a gate leading onto Dunwich Heath and the Suffolk Coastal Path, perfect for walks. Minsmere’s nearbyand honestly, it’s probably the best stay we've had with our dogs. Loads of routes right from the lodge, plus a great onsite bar, restaurantand shop.
Emma
Sunrise is showing signs of age, needs some love and a bit of upkeep.
Emma
We’ve stayed here before, which is why we came back. Overall, we had another nice stay, but a few things could be better. The bathroom definitely needs a proper clean - we found dog fur and a strong smell that was a bit off-putting. Small fixes like that would make a big difference. On the plus side, the hot tub was greatand we noticed they’ve added a fence for more privacy and safety. Not bad at all!
Emma
We had an awesome week here! The location close to the sea was perfectand having a private hot tub was such a treat. We really appreciated how well it was maintained. The vibe is super chill and dog-friendly, which we loved. The bar and restaurant are nice options if you don’t want to venture far. Service can be a bit slow sometimes, but honestly, we didn’t mind at all-we’d definitely come back!
James

Emma

The setting is truly beautiful, but it’s quite crowded and busy. Bedroom 2 is surprisingly small too.
Ella Thompson
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely lodge. The location is fantastic, right by the coast and perfect for walks along the beach to nearby spots. The on-site bar and restaurant served delicious foodand it’s dog-friendly which was a bonus. Waking up to the sound of the sea just beyond the gate was magical. The kitchen was well stockedand the living space was a good size and comfy. The hot tub was okay, though we’ve seen better. Overall, it was a lovely break!

Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 11 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 17 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 21 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 28 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
