Somerford Lodge Reviews

Property was very clean and comfortable. Both bathrooms in excellent condition. Lots of outside space for eating and relaxing. Kitchen is well stocked for easy use. Hot tub was maintained daily. Lovely to soak in after lots of walking. It was a relaxing space to be in. Welcome gift was appreciated. Highly recommend.

We had the most amazing stay at Somerfield Lodge, we honestly didnt want to leave! It felt like a real home away from home from the moment we arrived. Everything has been thought of, and it had absolutely everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The lodge itself is beautiful, spotless, and so cosy. The beds were incredibly comfy we all slept so well!, and the little welcome pack was such a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated after the journey. The whole place just has such a lovely, relaxing feel to it, perfect for switching off and enjoying the Lakes. Weve come away already talking about when we can come back, which says it all really! Would 100 recommend and cant wait to return.
It would have been nice to had the heating on when we arrived for a very cold half term stay and the light bulb over the dining room wasn't working, but apart from these 2 issues the Lodge was lovely and spacious and very comfortable for our stay.

Great stay, Lodge was superb, had absolutely everything needed and more.
Absolutely loved the lodge, was our first holiday with out 4 month old baby and we all had the best time. Situated in such a great place, on the complex and also in the lake district. The place was absolutely immaculate, every utensil you can imagine in the kitchen, comfy bed and lots of room with the wrap around terrace. Lovely to relax in the hot tub especially for my husband who works long hours. Would highly recommend

Well equipped comfortable cabin. Clean with everything you need and of good quality. Hot tub attended to daily and sunken position gives you more privacy. The site is a little too crowded for us and we didnt realise it was Park Dean when booking.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge and had lovely evenings in the hot tub. Was very disappointed with the bedding in the single bed,my daughter went to go to bed, the sheets hadn't been changed.there was stains on the bottom sheet and had hair on it and smelt. We did report it and took photos. My stay was to relax after having treatment from cancer, but I had to the check for cleaness for my safety aswell.
Beautiful lodge, would definitely stay again.
The lodge is beautiful, comfortable, clean and you wouldnt even know any other dogs had been there. It was absolutely spotless inside. Not a dog hair or a dog smell anywhere. Beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side and it literally banged it down all week. We then had a 16 hour power cut. We did make use of the hot tub initially but the hot tub maintenance guy neither topped up the water nor put a net inside to remove any debris. We kept an ate out for nets while out and about but never found one so we just didnt use it again after day 4. Being there all week, we never once saw any hot tubs being emptied and refilled between guests either. We would definitely return to Somerford lodge and we have already recommended to others. Despite a few set backs we still had a great week.

Lovely attractive lodge with double bifold doors. Inside the lodge was nice and clean and decorated very tastefully throughout. Bed extremely comfy too. Welcome pack very much appreciated! Although not an issue with us, this lodge is completely in the shade all through the day. Sun appears to shine on all the opposite lodges, we noticed a lot debris, leaves, fallen moss, sticks etc on the decking area from surrounding trees, which made it feel a little unloved. We would have gladly swept this up, but could not find an outdoor sweeping brush. We also noticed a lot of cigarette ends from previous guests around the gate area and the fire ash bucket had been used to empty dog waste in. The rattan furniture outside was broken and rusty, so unable to use these, although there was some nicer garden furniture we did use. Its a shame the same amount of attention is not taken on the outside of the property as it clearly is taken on the inside. Overall though, we had a great stay and will return.
Brilliant few days away in a beautiful setting and extremely comfortable lodge.
Absolutely beautiful lodge had everything we could possible ask for. Very comfortable very clean and in a great location. Would recommend to anyone over and over again.

A lovely lodge in beautiful surroundings. We loved our stay and would return, we were gutted its booked for the week we wanted in August. The lodge is a home from home had everything you need and extremely cosy especially the beds! Our girls loved the pool on site and our youngest loved the discos with the characters in the evening. The location is perfect for lots of days out including Brockhole which has a brilliant free childrens park lovely grounds to walk in and zip world. We loved the welcome park on arrival and the hot tube. It was a perfect week away from our busy lives!! Would definitely recommend x

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 10 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 22 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
