About Heatherstone Cottage

This Grade II-listed former barn has been beautifully converted to offer a luxury cottage perfectly suited to families and groups of friends exploring the North Pennines together. The rural retreat sleeps up to six guests and combines characterful features with modern comforts and sweeping views across the reservoir towards Carlisle and the Solway Firth.

At Castle Carrock Reservoir (0.5 miles), you can enjoy waterside walks and wildlife spotting, while the pretty village of Castle Carrock (1.5 miles) has a community pub serving local ales and hearty fare. Brampton (4 miles) has a great selection of independent shops and cafes, all ripe for exploration.

Urban days out await at Carlisle (11 miles), where you can visit the cathedral, castle, museums, and excellent restaurants. You may also wish to venture to the Lake District National Park (27 miles) for more unforgettable scenery and outdoor adventures.

Step into this scenic cottage at first-floor level and notice its reverse-level layout, which is designed to maximise the far-reaching vistas. Kick off your walking shoes and move through to the property’s social heart, the open-plan living space.

This well-appointed room is flooded with natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows and patio doors that frame the rural views. Combining a well-appointed kitchen with a diner and lounge area, it couldn’t be easier to unwind here between your days of adventure.

Rest weary feet in the lounge as you sink into the soft seating, flick on the Smart TV, and bask in the glow of the wood burner during chillier stays. On warm days, leave the patio doors open and let the fresh air flow through.

When it’s time to eat, the modern amenities and granite worktops in the kitchen offer everything needed for cooking up holiday meals, which can be enjoyed at the wooden dining table or out on the patio. The first bedroom is also on this floor, offering a wheelchair-accessible super-king-size bedroom which converts to a twin on request and benefits from a TV and an en-suite shower room.
