Maple Lodge Reviews

Well appointed lodge with modern equipment and everything needed for the stay. Private location not overlooked. Hot tube in good order and ideal at the end of the day. First wooden step to gate access needs another step as quite a drop. Pub nice and local, good food and drink and welcomes dogs.

What a beautiful spot and place to stay! We were quite last minute booking and were so pleased when we arrived. Its at a stunning location with beautiful views, but a couple of minutes walk to the park and ride into Whitby which was easy and simple and only a couple of pounds return far easier than driving round the town trying to find somewhere to park. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean, as was the lodge and we loved sitting out in the peace and quiet. Although it is an accommodation park with no club etc there is a pub at the entrance which is really nice with very good food, we ate there twice in our three night stay as it was excellent. We will definitely be back to this place!
Maple Lodge has dropped a star in the rating for the brevity of the instructions in the visitors book. We are an older couple and perhaps used to more simplified actions to turn things on for example it says the central heating thermostat is self explanatory,. I'm afraid to us it was not, as you up and down arrows which don't appear to do anything. It was hit or miss as to whether we had the heating when we needed it or not. apart from this the lodge is an amazing place to stay. Very comfortable, clean and very well appointed. The site is very quiet as the lodges are well spread out, the hotelbar just outside the gates is great for evening meals and perfect for breakfast on the last morning. Supermarket 10 minutes away, Spar just down the road for the odd forgotten things and daily papers. The Park and Ride opposite makes it easy to get into Whitby without the hassle of parking and it's quick and easy to get over to Sandsend for a quieter beach walk. Plenty of beautiful countryside and little villages to explore nearby we shall be back next year!!
Fabulous Lodge, would highly recommendcomfortable beds, fresh bed linen, and cleaned to a high standard. This is the perfect base for exploring Whitby, and the Hot Tub is a special treat after a long day.

It was a pleasure to walk through the door and find such an incredible lodge. Everything about the place was tip top with no expense spared. We had a great time and having the hot tub to relax in after a days walking just topped our experience off. Anyone going to Maple lodge will have a wonderful break. Maggie.

Perfect place to explore Whitby and beyond. Great facilities and so easy to check inout. Our children loved the lodge and hot tub! Would highly recommend to anyone, including families
We had an fantastic relaxing family break in Maple lodge. The lodge is immaculate. Beautiful surroundings. We walked across to the park and ride to go into Whitby which is very easy. Also a very quick walk for a drink at the pub. We have already booked to come back at Christmas!

The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed, lovely quiet place we had a great stay, definitely recommend.
Very nice accommodation. Had everything that was required. Very clean and maintained well. Great facilities. Plenty of places to visit near by. Only criticism Would recommend a cover or umbrella needed for the hot tub during hot summer days.
Excellent lodge with all the facilities needed and plenty of hot water. Very neat and tidy, with a lovely clean hot tub. One suggestion would be an enclosed area to let dogs off lead for their early morningevening duties as many fellow residents had dogs with them. A brilliant couple of days away.
A nice, welcoming lodge located on a spacious plot upon a large site. The site is well maintained and is obviously relatively new as there are many shrubs and trees planted around the site which are still in their infancy. There were a couple of minor issues at the lodge but were quickly sorted by the site manager. The site itself is located near to a main road which wasnt a problem regarding noise but it was sometimes a lengthy process trying to turn out of the site due to the oncoming traffic. My only criticism really is that the main gates to the entrance were left open during the day. This was because it was easier for deliveries, workmen etc to gain access. This did leave the site accessible to anyone during the day up until 8 pm at night. Also, we were not given the correct code to open up the main gates. We did manage to open them though, but only through trial and error! Overall, we had a wonderful stay and the added bonus was that the park and ride into Whitby is only a few minutes walk away and the bus did allow dogs

It was a great lodge. The only thing missing was a hairdryer.
Patricia
Lovely clean and well equipped lodge, very peaceful and quiet, would recommend, but for me personally I have mobility problems and because the access to the lodge was on a slop the three steps up were very high, I would like to book again and noticed there were lodges more on the level which would be more suitable for me, I would like to respectfully mention maybe you should advertise that the access to this particular lodge may not suit a person with mobility problems.
Excellent stay,will return
Great stay at Maple Lodge, the lodges are top standard and the owners leave those little extras that you dont normally get in self catering lodges, ie hand wash, plentiful loo paper, tea towels, washing up liquid, tea, coffee, sugar, milk. Great location 5 minute walk to the park and ride, Stables pub on doorstep that is really beautiful pub with great food, would definitely stay again 100

Some minor extras would enhance the stay body wash for the showers and salt and pepper condiments. The location with the park and ride and the Stables pub is perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend to our friends.
The lodge is in a perfect location clean and nicely maintained the only thing ... The lodge is in a perfect location clean and nicely maintained the only thing that is needed is an information pack in the lodge containing the wifi code info on area etc HAD TO RING THE OWNER TO GET THE CODE AS COULDN'T CONTACT SYKES COTTAGES DUE TO LONG WAIT OR BEING CLOSED

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 10 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 15 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 15 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 16 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 17 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 19 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 26 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
