The village of Alloway (5 miles) celebrates the life of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns. Here you can visit his thatched birthplace cottage, explore the museum dedicated to his work, and wander across the famous Brig o' Doon.

Light-filled and inviting, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner forms the heart of the lodge. Comfortable sofas and a Smart TV create a laid-back setting for evenings in, while the well-appointed kitchen has everything needed for easy self-catering.

A round dining table sits by the window, making the most of the surrounding rural views, and doors open directly onto the decked terrace. Two bright bedrooms provide restful retreats.

One hosts a super-king-size bed that can be arranged as twins on request, while the king-size bedroom benefits from its own en-suite shower room. A sleek family shower room with fabulous tiles completes the accommodation.

Outside, the enclosed decked terrace is set up for al fresco dining, with garden furniture and a bubbling hot tub overlooking the countryside and water beyond. Additional waterside seating provides another peaceful spot to sit back and take in the scenery.

Private parking for up to two cars is available, so you can come and go with ease.

James Hamilton Heritage Park has been awarded 4 Stars by the prestigious Visit Scotland Board and is a must visit attraction if you are in the area. The site features a gorgeous 16acre loch offering an exciting range of watersports including Canoeing and Windsurfing. Children and adults can enjoy taster sessions of most activities. The site also has two adventure playgrounds and a fleet of fun boats. The area is also abundant with wildlife and has a Bird Sanctuary.
M&D's Scotland's Theme Park - ML1 3RT

M&D's, Scotland's Family Theme Park is a "must do" day out if you are in the Strathclyde region. The fun attraction is set within 20 acres of beautiful Country Park and offers rides, shows and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Besides the outdoor rides the site is also home to Amazonia - Scotland's only indoor Tropical Rainforest where visitors can meet loads of exotic animals. There is also a large indoor soft play area and an amazing glow in the dark bowling alley, so plenty to do if the weather is bad. During December Scotland's largest Grotto with animated Christmas scenes can also be enjoyed.
