Indulge in a little retail therapy in Taunton (4.5 miles), and while you’re there, check out the exhibits at the Museum of Somerset, which is located in the 12th-century Great Hall of Taunton Castle. Further afield, spend a contented few hours fossil-hunting at Blue Anchor Beach (20 miles).

From your private parking area (there’s room for four cars), step inside this magnificent building and the hall will lead you to a sleek open-plan kitchen/dining area with impressive country views.
