About Spruce Lodge

Escape to this beautiful lodge on a historic working farm in North Suffolk. It is set within private grounds, with a private hot tub and sauna for relaxed breaks with family or friends.

Step straight onto footpaths through unspoiled countryside, stock up at the on-site shop, and enjoy a friendly match in the shared games room. Plan easy days out to Framlingham Castle (8.5 miles), ride heritage carriages at the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway (9.5 miles), or browse family attractions and independent outlets at Stonham Barns Shopping Village (11 miles).

After adventures, return to the gated veranda and soak up the peace of rural life. Inside, the lounge sets a relaxed tone with comfortable seating gathered around a coal-effect electric fire for cosy evenings and movie nights on the Smart TV with Blu-ray.

A dining table sits alongside for unhurried meals, with the kitchen adjacent so you can prep, cook and serve with ease, while an integrated ceiling radio adds a gentle soundtrack to your day. The main bedroom offers a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room with WC, creating a private space to start and end each day.

A twin bedroom is served by the family bathroom, which features a shower over the bath, a sauna and a WC—ideal whether you prefer a quick freshen-up or a long, warming session after time outdoors. Extra flexibility comes via a double pull-out sofa bed in the lounge for occasional guests.

Slide open the door to a gated, decked veranda furnished with a table and chairs for simple al fresco dining. The private hot tub is sunken into the decking for convenient step-in access, perfect for an evening soak as the countryside settles.

BBQs are available to hire (subject to availability), so you can linger outdoors for longer. Shared facilities on site include a games room, and parking is provided right next to the lodge for easy loading and unloading.

While there'll be plenty to keep you entertained at Spruce Lodge itself, if you plan to get out and about and see some of what Norfolk has to offer, here are some of the nearby attractions you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that some of these activities and days out are paid and it's always a good idea to book in advance to secure your place where applicable.

Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 8 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 13 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 21 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 22 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Ickworth House, Park & Gardens - IP29 5QE
about 24 Miles
The National Trust Ickworth House, Park & Gardens is a Beautiful 1800 acre country estate with many attractions including a fantastic adventure playground for the children and a range of nature trails which the whole family will enjoy. The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 25 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 29 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 29 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
